It is always nice to have a pleasant environment for house guests, but the spare bedroom is often the place in the home which is neglected the longest. It may not be your top priority, but you should really think about making improvements to this room of your house for the sake of the guests!
Start off by trying to create a simple and neutral room. You are aiming to please everyone, so something that is a bit out there will not do. A great start is a very simple dark beige carpet with another darkly coloured rug in the middle of the room. Keep the walls painted with white or magnolia to make sure the room is light, and to keep costs down. A new bed is certainly not a necessity, but make sure that you buy new bedding to brighten the room. Nice bedding is something that visitors always notice, and it is nice to provide something that doesn’t look like it came with the house fifteen years ago!
For the final touches, think about a few ornaments, maybe a small television, and a couple of pictures on the wall. Also, now that you have redecorated the rest of the room, you should find some new curtains which will go with your new design scheme.
If you put all of these principles into practice you should be able to create a lovely bright guest room without having to spend a fortune in the process!
